I'm always struck by the kindness in this character's face. He's giving his gift with true affection - the affection of a doting grandfather, rather than a potentate come to offer tribute. A very human moment.
The mountains & the lake, people & places, children & chickens, frescoes & felines, barbera & books.

That is a beautiful. I pray I offer the gifts that I've been blessed with back to Him so willingly.

It's true, a detail so often missing or unseen in art, that delicately beautiful facial expression...

There is something special about a grandfather's love, too. I always look back, as I know a lot do, at those "special moments" with grandpa that you can never forget.
Me? It's shucking peas in the summer watching thunderstorms pass through the valley... - Tuesday, 01 September, 2009

Its amazing that these frescos have retained their colour, not like modern paints which fade so quickly.

Well, these ones have just been restored, so they look pretty good right now. We'll see how long the modern pigments last.
