All Nature seems at work

Yesterday was another fine, sunny day, with 15°C in the garden as Maccagno's bells were ringing for lunchtime. More tidying, preparing. A little speculative planting (with fingers crossed and a quick prayer to Carmine's weather gods). More clearing up after last weekend's tree-cutting in Priest's Wood. Sledge-hammers ringing against wedges, two-metre trunks splitting like butter under M.'s now-expert blows.

And all around we find that Nature is doing the same thing. Making ready. Little spring flowers, shivering in the wind. Butterflies and bees darting in and out.

As Samuel Taylor Coleridge wrote :

"All Nature seems at work. Slugs leave their lair
The bees are stirring, birds are on the wing,
And Winter slumbering in the open air
Wears on his smiling face a dream of Spring."

Stop teasing me! Although as I write this, it is hovering around 0 C and snow is gently melting while more is falling!

It's 34 degrees here in Bangkok. The weather has been extremely hot. You have such beautiful weather there. I would love to join you.

Lovely weather...it's beautiful here too, the most lovely and temperate time, when winter has tossed off its coat and is opening its arms to the sun....warm and lovely but not intrusive...

I love this time of the year too. It always looks like a miracle the way nature wakes up. You are lucky there, in Milan it is a little more difficult to see flowers and butterflies.
