Quote of the week No. 16 : A writer's work

There's a pretty gusty wind howling around The Rock this morning. It hums in the chimneys and waggles the fences, it batters the flags, and makes the little flowers shiver. I'd say about Beaufort 6. Eleven degrees at 10:30. Okay, okay, I positioned the thermometer in a pool of sunshine on some nice warm stones just outside the bathroom window.

I cheated. So sue me...here's the quote of the week :

Salman Rushdie (b. 1947), controversial Anglo-Indian novelist and thinker. For an angle on his biography click here :

“A writer's work is to name the unnameable, to point at frauds, to take sides, start arguments, shape the world, and stop it going to sleep.”

I'd better get on with it then...

Is it just me? But the text seems more difficult to read against the grey background.. at least, on my computer.

Great quote - and kind of relevant about the fraud bit and the nifty placing of the thermometer in sunlight... ;-)

@LadyFi...is this any better? I've knocked the backrgound back a bit and brought up the text more...

@LadyFi Again : The worst deceivers of all are those that deceive themselves...

Hi! Hope your camera is surviving!

It's the grey background - too dark really for the text to show up properly... Why not try a lighter shade of grey?

:) Hello, I saw you have become a follower at my blog. Thanks for visiting and reading! I have been here before, but don´t remember from when. I love how you "cheat" with the thermometer. I do too sometimes, but only to get a bigger effect, when mentioning how hot is get´s here.... :)

Yes a little on the dark side 18% grey could be OK.
