That one is perfect! Very traditional - there are two different melodies. Or try 'Go, tell it on the mountain.'Both should be on Google - even YouTube. Have fun!

I think it is a lovely idea, it was one of to my favourites when our girls were little.
Mind you I admire you attempting to teach it to Italian five year olds. Maybe you can put the performance on You Tube for us all to share eventually? - Wednesday, 18 November, 2009

At my children's Kindergarten it is Jingle Bells every year. I don't know if it is the only song known by the teachers or the only one children can learn.

Or how about this verse, repeated, often.
O Come All Ye Faithful
Joyful and triumphant,
O come ye, O come ye to Bethlehem.
Come and behold Him,
Born the King of Angels;
O come, let us adore Him,
O come, let us adore Him,
O come, let us adore Him,
Christ the Lord.
They know the tune. - Wednesday, 18 November, 2009

Away in the Manger is a good one. Starts out high but goes down the scale pretty good.
Silent Night or Go Tell it on The Mountain would be cute for them too.
It will sound like little angels singing I'm sure.

Just be careful that Italians kiddies don't sing about "round John Virgin". I wince when I remember what we South Africans made of those beautiful English carols! Ilse

Looks like Away in a Manger it is. That's if I can get them to stop killing each other with gymnastics equipment and destroying the maraccas by hammering them against one another's heads...and L-I-S-T-E-N! (Don't ask...)
