Fresco detail

St Bartholomew reads bedtime stories to a little devil.
Fresco detail, Chiesa di San Gottardo, Carmine Superiore.

Could it be Der Rauber Hotzenplotz? Or perhaps The Magic Treehouse?
Maybe it's The Riot Act...

There is a delight in discovering such details. Paintings within paintings. Stories within a story. Thanks for showing it.

I'm really impressed with these suggestive frescos that are in Carmine Superiore... I'm looking forward to making it up to Lago Maggiore in the future.

Hi Alan -- I share that delight!

And Peter -- you would be most welcome. When you come, make sure I'm home, and I'll make sure you get to see the frescos for yourself.

Looks like the not-so-little devil is dancing for joy!?

The divide between Bart and the Devil is obviously nothing more than a mirror.

I find the creative thinking of the artist as impressive as his actual work.
