When I was a child I used to calculate and re-calculate the age I would be in the Year 2000. Today, the stunning sunrise that greeted me the first day of the new millennium is a misty memory, and I can't believe I'm now having to calculate the age I was that year.
When B was no more than a dottie in my arms, I remember saying to a friend and colleague that I wouldn't be re-joining the workforce until - gasp - 2009. Well, that year that seemed so far away has arrived with lightning speed. My time as a dedicated housewife and mother has gone in the blinking of an eye.
I wish you a very happy and peaceful New Year. I wish you success in your endeavours and true contentedness in your relationships. I hope 2009 brings you everything you wish for yourself and your loved-ones. And I hope you'll take one teeny-tiny piece of advice from me : don't blink, or you'll miss it.

Happy New year, Louise. I hope 2009 is better than 2008 for you and your family.
I promise not to blink...life's too short.
Happy New Year, Louise. Your photos are so beautiful. I am really enjoying them. I am from California, USA and find it so fun to connect with others who live far away. Fireworks seems to be a typical means to celebrate in many areas of the world. Too bad it was too cold for many to enjoy them where yo are at. Best to you in 2009.
I also remembe calculating my ge in 2000 as a teenager. I would be 43, and that sounded so old. Now at 51, I feel young. Happy New Year.
Ooops - I blinked!
Returning to the workforce? What will you be doing?
Hi LadyFi -- if you can call writing a book 'returning to the workforce', that would be one of the options. I quite like the idea of "CARMINE : the untold story"... :-)) Having said that, I have until September to decide on future careers, and that's a good long time to think of excuses not to return to the workforce at all!
Carmine: the untold story! I like that.. and would definitely like to read it too.
Good luck with the writing! My paying jobs are writing jobs, but it would be luxury to write for myself for a change...
There is a country music song here in the U.S. entitled "Don't Blink" It makes me cry every time I hear it.
Happy New Year,
♥
