Motherhood means ... No : 9

Zero at eight. The whole world has turned a steely grey, and it's snowing again.

Motherhood means ... resigning oneself to the fact that after all the stuff that got schlepped up the hill (by Santa and his reindeer, of course), the favourite toy of the Christmas season appears to be composed of one piece of string attached to a champagne cork, pulled behind one running 4-year-old with one manic 5-month-old kitten in hot pursuit.

It used to be a few tins and cardboard tubes in our day, long ago. Imagination is a wonderful thing.

Yep - every year we say we are going to give the kids empty shoe boxes or big boxes as they love playing in them, with them, making things out of them etc.. etc...

Reza received about 8 gifts this Christmas. The good, expensive, organic, natural paints, imported from Europe at exorbitant cost to the parents kind of toys. Guess what he liked the most? The bubble wrap. Yes.
Lay some bubble wrap on the floor and let the kid walk or jump all over it. The cracking sounds are ABSOLUTELY HYSTERICAL, to a 4 year old. More so than all the toys apparently.

As we are over Christmas (thank you for your lovely wishes) I take a moment to hope the best of the new year for you and your family. May 2009 be all that is gentle, memorable and wonderful for you Louise.

The image of that wild chase is making me laugh out loud!

This year we got our 2 year old granddaughter an actual tube to crawl around in and it was the obvious hit of the day.
