Quote of the week No. 3 : On cleaning
This morning, as the children stomp off in their wellies to Cannobio's third ever livestock fair (in search of a breeder of chickens with animal-welfare principles), the lightening skies overhead are blue, but there are still traces of low-lying cloud in the valleys.Phyllis Diller (b. 1917), American comedienne and spokeswoman of sorts for all downtrodden housewives : "Cleaning your house while your kids are still growing is like shoveling the sidewalk before it stops snowing".
Cackling with the laughter of recognition, I immediately sent this to all my ex-executive house-mother friends, with the addition of "while the builders still have your keys, you're trying to house-train two wild-born kittens and there's a ghiro hibernating in a box on what would be the coffee table if you had time for coffee."

Thanks for the cackle!!
Do chickens have principles?
That is entirely to true!
I am so glad you stopped in... now that I know you are here, I can stop in and visit Northern Italy whenever I want!
I love that quote! After last winter, I know that even if it is still snowing you got to keep up or you will be buried in 3 ft of snow. Last year, we got 100 inches!!
Thanks for stopping by my blog and leaving such sweet comments.
Congratulations on the first I Love You. There's nothing better than that.
At least when your kids are teenagers, they're out of the house more than in it and you can clean when they're not home.
