Today is San Giuseppe – St Joseph’s Day. Of course, St Joseph was the husband of Mary, and foster father to Jesus, and a carpenter (apparently, though, he may also have been a stonemason).He’s not only patron saint of carpenters and cabinet makers, as one might expect, but also of house hunters (I guess because of his search for “room at the inn”). His patronage also covers, unsurprisingly, expectant mothers, unborn children, families and married people. And travellers, immigrants and emigrants. And Sicily.
St Joseph’s Day is also in Italy the Festa del Papa’.
Happy Father’s Day to both the fathers in my life.
