Cats in the pantry

Finally, the winter has dropped below zero. The chickens' water was frozen yesterday for the first time this time, and there are icicles in the stream, a bit like this.

Four Carmine cats at their post in the pantry. Second from the left is Mamma di Tutti, who has mothered more than 20 kittens in her long life. She's a tough nut, but now has difficulty eating and breathing and has lost so much weight I fear she may not see the summer. I'll do my best for her.

They look so clean and healthy; so sorry about the little momma. She's in good hands with you! -30C this morning with 6k of wind! Not planning on going anywhere today!

Minus 30? Can't believe it, and certainly can't imagine what that feels like! Say warm Karin. x

Think the little momma cat has a failing heart - she is probably a good age and you have made her comfortable when she needed it, I know.

Look at them! Like peas in a pod.

I lost Jasper and LouLou, the cats I brought to deep rural from an appartment life in Milan just a year after we got here.

There is a lot to be said for knowing you gave a kitty a well cared for exisitance when losing them to time.

(((((Doesn't stop it being painful though)))))
