10° below

Today's morning temperature is a solid 10° below the temperature at the same time last year.

And I felt that familiar winter sensation at the tips of my fingers as I took cold, wet laundry out of the washing machine in the outdoor lean-to we use as a utility room.

Mathilda is burning a full month before she's normally roused from her summer slumbers, a broken thermometer in the first load of firewoood.

Don't know about you, but I'm having a shivery premonition about this winter...

I hope not. My bones are getting too old for the cold and too brittle to cope with the ice.

We had snow earlier this week, and temps of minus 5 C in the mornings...

LadyFi : Minus five? That sounds painful. How cold do your winters get if it's minus five and snowing in mid-October???

You have no idea how the thought a cold winter is terrifying me right now. *eek*

The weather men can't make their minds up whether or not we are going to dip below freezing tonight. Then we are in for gales and heavy rain on tuesday, that will warm things up coming off the Atlantic.

Looking at global weather, it does seem like its going to be colder than usual. Last winter (June-August) in Paraguay was unusually cold as well.
