In the depths of summer

Something has changed. In the very early mornings, when I am wont to wander about Carmine like a ghost, I now need an extra layer of clothing. And in the dead of night when all are abed and I drift from doorpost to garden gate like a wraith looking for home, I need shoes.

In the depths of summer, autumn is in the air.

Hello, The object in the photograph looks very much like an urn, you know, a container for peoples ashes. It looks like pewter to me and is very classy. Even the grill over the window has been made by an expert craftsman. The rosettes are excellent.

That's interesting...never thought of it as possibly containing someone's earthly remains...or perhaps it's Aladdin's Lamp...

Hello,
Give it a rub and see what happens. I would stand well back, you know what those genies can be like.

You don't need an Aladdin's Lamp! Your wonderful life and your powers f description are all you need.

I am an amater poet and I trawl Blogs to get ideas for poems. I was attracted to your 'Enid Blyton summer' idea (and I knew just what you meant) but no poetry could better your prose!

On my blog you will find a nostalgic poem of mine called 'Alton Towers' which tries to crystalise the wonderful feelings of childhood freedom. I hope you like it.

And what would we ask the genie for?
