The story so far...

For more than 20 years, Louise lived and worked in London in order to finance a fairly serious rough-travel habit. In 2002, she and her now-husband (M.) bought a pile of granite in the tiny medieval village of Carmine Superiore overlooking northern Italy's Lago Maggiore, and set about turning it into a holiday-home. Ten years, two children (AJ, 8, and B, 6), one drathaar, a bunch of cats, a pair of sheep, dozens of chickens and a broken-wing seagull later, and she finds herself an expat with an almost-finished home, but is starting to wonder what happened to the holiday...
